DSI is a proud partner of the Australian AI Safety Forum, alongside the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences through the 2024 DSI Ignite Grant Funding Scheme.
The Australian AI Safety Forum was a two-day interdisciplinary event focused on technical AI safety and governance held on the 7th and 8th of Nov 2024 at the Sydney Knowledge Hub, here on campus. The attendance was great with discussions around a range of perspectives – very technical disciplines and maths right through to policy, law, and social sciences. This forum was the first of its kind in Australia, to discuss the International Scientific Report on the Safety of Advanced AI and its implications for our country. This brought together researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders to address the challenges posed by AI. The event has created new connections and expected to foster a community and network dedicated to AI safety.
